stuff

Happy Monday!

This weekend, I jogged. alot!
I loved it!!
I started slow. I got three laps at the rec center. Which is about 1/3 of a mile.
Then Saturday, I got six laps. After 50 minutes of  Zumba!
Then Sunday..

drumroll please...

....
.....
......
.......
.......

I ran a mile!! woohoo!! and this was after ellipticalling for 30 minutes!

I'm a working out freak I tell ya!

it is addicting. Much better to be addicted to this than those damn cookies, no?

I can't wait till I can run and not feel that extra ass behind me trying to find the floor.

I joined spunkysuzi on this-weeks-challenge of using smaller plates and dishes. This is to help make you think you have more food than you do. :)
It's a portion control thing.

I will try to fit in with the cool kids and take some pics of my foods.

Oh as for my WI on Weight Watchers..

I am down .6. Not as much as I hoped, but a loss is a loss.  I am down a total of 8.4 since joining six weeks ago. I suppose thats not too bad.
I am already down a pound or so since Saturday (using my work scale).. so maybe this week will be better.

I cross my fingers that all this running is helping.
I sure sweat when I jiggle.

Have a great day!

jogging and jiggling

yeah.
I was told a year or so ago by my rheumatologist.. No running or anything that will have impact.
due to my awesome neck and back issues.
I can damage nerves or even paralyze myself.
Talk about scary.

I have been walking really really fast on the treadmill for a while now.
Looking over at the little skinny minis running all happy and sweaty.

I wanted to be running like them.
so bad.

So last night. after a super sweaty 30 minutes on the cross trainer elliptical thingy I decided.. well everyone else decided for me. Since all the machines were taken. That I would go walk on the track for a bit.

The kidlets were swimming.. so there was nothing to stop me. :)
Ah the sights you see on the track at the rec center.
For instance..

One running man that should not wear baggy shorts. They ride.
One reallllly tall guy that totally rocks some awesome black knee high socks with his white sneakers and blue shorts.
A cute lil lady in her church clothes that has her cell phone glued to her ear for the whole 30 minutes I was up there.
A few drool worthy mens. That made it all worth it. :)

uh hem

So.. I get my walk on. I get faster. I text my hunkaman that I really want to run.
I'm crazy. I know.
But when something is forbidden.. I crave it that much more. yanno?

so he says.. ok.
then I remind him that the dr said no. He says.. well just do it and don't hurt yourself. go slow.

so I jog. I actually remember how to jog.
I jiggle. a lot.
I jog slow. No pain. at all.
I feel good. I am jogging.
I am jiggling but I am jogging.
fist pump!
a few times.
I manage three laps before I decide I really don't want to hurt myself and walk a few more laps.

A great workout!

next time.. Im totally taking pictures.

my surprise

Squeee!!! I got my surprise I won from the shrinking sisters blog!! I love all the purple! I can't wait to use it all!!
A water bottle, a little snack pack, a new gym bag and a yummy box of cheerios!

Thanks so much girls!!!

a page from the past

I was sorting out some papers I had kept in a binder. I call it my "diet binder"
It was full of a "diet" I tried last September. Well... started the beginning of October and lasted about six weeks.
I peeked at the first page, where it made me write down how much I weighed and how big my tummy was. OMG seriously! gross!!

But.. It said. 191 pounds. Sick I know.
And my waist was 39 1/2 inches. Talk about diesel tire!

I was really shocked. Since then.. I've lost 15 pounds and 3 1/2 inches from my waist.
Woot!

I think the holidays messed that number up somehow.. but since joining WW's I've lost 7.8 pounds. Not too shabby..
I have finally started listening to my body. Really listening.
I don't have to have that cupcake after dinner. I don't have to constantly snack on chips or candy while watching tv.
To be honest. I rarely watch tv anymore. I leave that job to the hunkaman.
I am usually at the gym getting sweaty.
I love working out. I might even be addicted. Yeah. I said that.

I can feel my muscles getting stronger. I can actually see some of them under all the fluff. Exciting!

I have tracked every single bite of food I ate since joining WW's. It isn't always pretty, but I am making the effort to keep myself from ever getting back to my heaviest weight. I am actually scared of it.

I can tell you. I have had the urge (several times) to just eat the whole box of cookies in the cupboard. I really wanted to buy some boxes of chocolates that were on sale after V-day. I soooooo wanted them!
But I got ahold of myself and remembered that I am worth all this hard work.
My hunkaman even mentioned the other day.. "your face is getting thinner, I like it."
Aaaahhh.. I kinda like him.

He is so supportive of me losing weight and exercising like a mad woman. Because, he told me, it is hard to be attracted to a fat girl. He is honest this way. And maybe a few years ago, it would have hurt my feelings. But yanno.. It didn't. Because I know I'm fat. and I am not attracted to me. so why would I expect him to be?
I know he loves me. No doubt about that. This is not about being shallow or a man. He was just honest. I appreciate that.

But I have struggled with being overweight, at times morbidly obese, for years. I hate it!
I made a commitment to myself. I can be "me" again! and I will be!

Yeah. I know. That was a lot of rambling and emotional stuff. But I had to say it. :)

Have a great day!

Hungry Girl

So Saturday at my Weight Watchers meeting, I heard the leader say something about Hungry Girl and her website. I have never ever heard of this girl before.
in my life.

so I googled today, since that's what I do. I google :)

lemme tell ya..
Hungry girl is awesome to the A.
Freggin amazing how she works. Her website is so cute n girly.. which I love
She has recipes, books and more. Articles, reviews, polls.. and the list goes on.
I so want to be her when I grow up!
seriously.

Hungry girl.com is her website.

go check it out.. I'll wait..

mmkay..

isn't she adorable?

I think I found my new obsession. :)

I signed up for the newsletter so maybe I'll be sharing some info from that soon!
like the nach average dessert? omg those look fabulous.. I may have to make some. right now.

Oh I lost .2 at my weigh in on Saturday. Very Very disappointing I tell ya. I was crushed. But I kind of expected it. I only worked out a couple days last week, due to the new tatt and it hadta heal n stuff.
But I've already hit the gym hard since then and kick some major ass. yup.
So..
here's to a good week and lots of weight loss!

I have to love myself

That is the main point I have been struggling with.
I allowed myself to gain at least 100 pounds since high school. Ok that was 15ish years ago, but still..
it crept up on my fat ass..
Mostly I am blaming kidlet number one. The dr told me to eat. So I did.
I was 18. I was 100 pounds.
What did I care?

Oh man, if I could go back and re-do all that damage I did to myself back then.
You bet your ass I would.
In a heartbeat.

Ok.. so since then..
kidlet number two managed to make me eat more. totally her fault too :)

So I was over 200 pounds last year. Gross I know! I seriously felt (still kinda do) like an oompa loompa
Not cute.

I have lost 35 pounds since then, but I still have body issues.
The ginormous mirrors in the fitness class room doesn't help either.
I can see all the fit, cute little teeny boppers or trophy mom's sweating it up next to me. I feel bad.
I feel like my belly fat is going to consume me.
Literally.

I get comments all the time.. "are you losing weight?"  "you look great" blah blah..
It feels so good at the time. I smile. I bounce down the hall. and by the time I get back to my seat or where I was going.. The good feeling is gone.

My hubby even says he is starting to notice I am looking better.
I still feel like the 215 pound woman on the inside.
When does this stop?

I am making my goal this year to lose at least another 35 pounds, but I will still be overweight. In all reality I need to lose 50+ more.
That is depressing.
So depressing.

Weight Watchers is helping.
A ton!
I just have to remember to love myself. I am worth all this effort.

And thanks to Sally's awesome post I will probably never eat KFC again.. Not that I loved it in the first place.. My fav was the coleslaw and mashed potatoes.. but still ACK!! lol

It is a long hard journey to lose weight. I know I didn't put it on overnight. But I am not the most patient person in the world. I want it gone NOW!

:)
Have a great day!!

Happy Love Day!!

and all that mushy stuff!

who am I kidding? I am the ultimate mushygirl!!

So I weighed in Saturday..not the five pound loss I was hoping for but down 2. something.. I can't remember right now..

I got my five pound bravo sticker! woohoo!! a sticker!
I told my hubby it sounds so kindergarten, but that damn sticker is a badge dammit!
I will never see those five pounds again.
ever!

I only need 2.8 or something (see how off I am today) to get another!

take that beotches! two stickers!

so that's my goal this week.

With V-day and coworker birthday lunches this week.. it's gonna be a struggle, but I can do it!

our leader said something.. and I am paraphrasing..
only you are in control of what goes in your mouth. only you are in control of what you eat.

and yanno.. she is right!

Oh Oh Oh !!!!
I finally got my hunkaman to the gym on Sunday! omg I bout died when he said he'd go.
lemme fill ya in.
I've been going to the rec center in town for over a year.. almost daily. yup really.

aaand.. I've asked him almost every time if he wants to come workout with me.. yanno.. to get more sexy n stuff..

get turned down every time..
till yesterday!!
woop!!

isn't he smexy??
back off.. he's mine! lol

ugh post #2

The poundage just isn't budging this week..

Am I obsessively weighing myself every morning?

yup

and my goal of losing 5.2 this week just isn't happening. I have no idea why.
Well. maybe I do.

I have been pushing my workouts.
I am actually sore today!
Everywhere!!

I am going to have to invest in some awesome weightlifting gloves.
Never though I'd say that

I hope there are pink ones.

Because the 15 pound dumbbells hurt my hands. :)

I went to Zumba last night.
is it possible to have a gurl crush? I love love love Patti the instructor..
She is blonde, cute and spunky! I want to be her when I grow up!!
She really gets us going and always has a huge freggin smile on her face..

We get to incorporate Elvis in the workouts which makes me sooooo happy!!!
uh huh

So... My list of things to get now (since I ordered new shoes which will be here today) is gloves and a gel seat for spinning class.. gotta protect my girly bits.. Oh and some protein powder to make shakes :)
I deserve it!

Even if my fat arse isn't getting any lighter..I'm not giving up!

I googled

Body fat: What happens to lost fat?

When you lose weight, where does the lost body fat go?

Answer

from Katherine Zeratsky, R.D., L.D.

Body fat breaks down during a series of complex metabolic processes.
When you burn more calories than you consume, your body uses fat (triglycerides) for energy. This causes your fat cells to shrink. In turn, triglycerides are broken down into two different substances — glycerol and fatty acids — which are absorbed into your liver, kidneys and muscle tissue. From there, the glycerol and fatty acids are further broken down by chemical processes that ultimately produce energy for your body.
These activities generate heat, which helps maintain your body temperature. The resulting waste products — water and carbon dioxide — are excreted in urine and sweat or exhaled from your lungs

aaand..

Lora A. Sporny, adjunct associate professor of nutrition education at Columbia University, answers.
In order to understand the disappearance of body fat, we must enter the world of biochemistry. All fats, whether solid or liquid, exist in chemical form as triglycerides, which consist of a glycerol molecule and three fatty acid chains. Each triglyceride macromolecule's appearance is similar to the letter "E"--with the glycerol being the vertical line and the fatty acids as the three horizontal lines. Many of these triglycerides are stored as droplets of oil within the fat cells that make up the fat tissue located throughout the body. They represent a fuel source to support bodily activities, like gasoline held in a car's fuel tank.
People who are overweight or obese--as roughly 66 percent of American adults are--possess large fat cells brimming with triglyceride fuel. When trimming calories and/or increasing exercise during weight loss, the enzyme hormone-sensitive lipase, located within fat cells, responds to hormonal messages and disassembles triglycerides into their component glycerol and fatty acids. These components then slip out of the fat cells and into the bloodstream, where they are accessible to tissues throughout the body. The liver preferentially absorbs the glycerol and some of the fatty acids--the remainder of which is taken in by muscle.
Once inside liver or muscle cells, the triglyceride ingredients are further disassembled and modified, eventually resulting in large quantities of a compound called acetyl-CoA. Within the cells' mitochondria--the powerhouses of the cells--the acetyl-CoA combines with the compound oxaloacetate to form citric acid. This synthesis kicks off the citric acid cycle (or Krebs cycle), a set of chemical reactions that creates usable energy from fat, protein and carbohydrates. As these mitochondrial activities unfold, they generate carbon dioxide, water and heat, as well as adenosine triphosphate (ATP), an energy-carrying molecule that fuels cellular activities.
The carbon dioxide is then expelled from the lungs during exhalation. The water exits the body as urine and perspiration. The heat that is generated helps to maintain body temperature at a comfortable 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. And the ATP powers cellular activities that require energy--from moving your muscles during exercise, to maintaining your heart's 100,000-plus beats each day, to digesting each mouthful of food that you swallow and processing nutrients into bodily tissues.

So basically.. drinking lots and lots of water really does help with weight loss. Not only do you hydrate your body, you pee out fat! lol.

Awesome!!!

Think of that the next time you're using the potty :)
